Ken Burns: Each photo displayed is either slowly zoomed into, or zoomed out of (a technique pioneered by documentary maker Ken Burns). You can set the start and end zoom points in each photo by selecting it within the thumbnails at the bottom of the program window, and clicking the square icon the bottom left of the large preview above. Selecting either the start or end icon will show a zoom slider.
Photos
If you had multiple libraries on your machine, Photos will ask you to select which library you'd like to import. Unfortunately, you can't consolidate multiple libraries into a single Photos library — you have to pick which one you want to use. (If you need to do this, you can use Aperture first to consolidate libraries, then import that unified library into Photos.)
Any edits you make will automatically be saved to your Photos library.

iCloud Photo Library simply stores all your photos online, regardless of how you come about them. They might be new pics you take with your iPhone, or photos you import from a dedicated camera via the Photos app on your Mac. It's kind of like a backup of your entire photo library, combined with ease of access from any of your Apple hardware.
What about downloading pictures from iCloud backups or iTunes backups?
You can update or continue to work on your existing Photos projects by converting them using third-party extensions, and after you convert your projects, you can still edit them further and place orders using the extension's interface within Photos. Here's how!
Non-destructive editing of photos
Apple says it has improved the face recognition of the Photos application, adding object and scene recognition. It groups similar pictures together using faces, locations and object recognition to create "memories". Memories contain picture slideshows with transitions and music selected by the algorithm, which can be modified to the user's liking. The "People" album organizes photos by the people in them, and Places shows all photos on a world map.
Use iPhoto, PlayMemories Home, Image Data Converter, or other photo software to see the pictures.
Classic: The traditional slideshow in which individual photos fill the screen, and briefly crossfade into each other.
To open a stack, just click it and its files spread out neatly on the desktop. You can also scrub through Stacks to flip through thumbnails of the files inside. On the trackpad, use two fingers to scrub or swipe through thumbnails of files in a stack. On the mouse, use one finger. You can double-click to open a file, or drag it directly into an app or document.
