The Free version is useful for 1-to-1 video and voice calls as well as text-based chat. Your message log is saved for up to 30 days, and the tool ties directly to Microsoft Outlook. This lets you send meeting invites directly to someone's inbox, and accept invitations that save to your calendar and alert you when it's time for the meeting to begin. That's basically it for the Free plan. It's a barebones app that's built specifically to connect consumers to one person. Amazon Chime automatically calls participants to join meetings, with participants able to join meetings with a single tap, or let other users know that they are running late. Personalized meeting URLs can be created and used when scheduling meetings in advance, or to start instant meetings. The visual roster which gives users insight into who is present in the meeting, who has marked themselves as ‘running late’, and who is unavailable, removing the need for roll calls. Users can also view which audio feed is responsible for any background noise, and any participant can mute individual audio feeds. All participants can share their screen in a meeting, without needing to request permission, and remote control of screens can be enabled for collaboration. Participants can dial in using a standard phone line from over 70 countries, and view shared content on supported web browsers. First of all, it came free with my Vonage business line. I like that fact that you can set Chime up very easily and quickly. It allows you to select a local number and/or Toll-free number to use. The configuration of call flow is easy as well. I like the feature such as Video sharing and the ability to record meetings.
Initially it was IP only. Then it added SMS support. Then it added merged conversations between SMS and IP. Then it unmerged those conversations. All the while only really working well on the desktop inside a weird Chrome extension that burned through battery like kindling because there was no hardware support for encoding and decoding the video.
This is our new platform for team meetings and so much easier than logging in on phones and various chat locations
