When the installer is executed, the main file also launched the executable as it is enabled by the mono framework included in the bundle. This framework allows the execution of Microsoft applications across platforms such as OSX. Plus, if you have 15-30 minutes one afternoon, it's a great way to get insight into what your system is doing, and gain some (small) amount of comfort that you know what's going in/out of your system. Well, that is, everything that isn't bypassing the kernel in the first place.... :-( I bought LS3 Until you log out Its nothing new though. Layer-7 firewalls ("personal firewalls") have existed for desktop OSes for a while. I ran them in end of 90s on Windows 9x. Software such as ZoneAlarm, and there were others as well (IIRC LavaSoft had one, but not sure). Nowadays, Windows has one build-in. But then I found others, like monitoring my banking websites reaching out to odd domains and ports. Or virus detection (some virii uninstall if they detect Little Snitch). The more I used it, the more I liked it. So I unblocked the Little Snitch license checks and bought a legit copy.

Firewall? Radio Silence is truly an app for the Mac. Simple and elegant. I switched from Little Snitch and it's been wonderful! Fixed an issue where traffic captures (recordings of network messages) were incomplete. They're nice-looking, but don't have anything that even remotely resembles rules. All it can do is deny or allow all traffic, on per-application basis. If you want your email client to talk to only your email server but not anywhere else (as a security precaution) you'll have to use built-in Windows firewall facilities to set up such a rule. The fun begins once Little Snitch is installed. A small menu item appears on the top of your screen and displays a small gauge setting so you know when you're sending and receiving network traffic. Click that menu and you'll see options to change modes and items for Little Snitch's Network Monitor, Rules, and Preferences. I wish something like this could run at the router level. I am certain my low-end IoT devices are sending out data I don't know about. Is there a comunity-curated list of rules I can import to LS? If Little Snitch is listening, please do this. I would be willing to pay more.
