The #1 Rated Memory Cleaning Utility for the Mac. 3 Million Downloads
Now that you know how big your Mac Mail app is, it’s time to get cleaning.
If you’re running macOS Sierra, you can easily find and remove large files using the built-in storage manager. If you’re not on Sierra, I like the $10 hard drive analyzer, DaisyDisk. DaisyDisk analyzes your system, finds massive files, then lets you delete those files right from the app. Launch DaisyDisk and it shows you a graph with all your files based on type. This way, you can track down anything that’s suspiciously large, like some random video you needed one time, then delete it. DaisyDisk is idiot-proof and automatically hides system files. Since you can preview files in the app, it’s pretty hard to remove an important file on accident. Even still, before you do this, make sure you have backups of any important files.
"Free app Memory Clean lets you monitor your Mac’s memory usage and will clean it automatically or when asked."
• Go ahead and launch your Mail app.

Click Scan. When CleanMyMac is finished scanning your Mac, you can either click Clean to get rid of all the attachments it's found, or click Review and go through the attachments one by one and decide which ones you want to delete. Add or remove email accounts in Mail on Mac Before OS X Mavericks, you have the option to tell Apple's Mail app to never keep copies of messages for offline viewing. Since the option has been removed from macOS Sierra, El Capitan, Yosemite, you can try these tricks to reduce the space that Mail uses and have more free hard drive memory. Step 3 When scanning is done, tick Mail Junk or Mail Attachments to view the unwanted junk files on Mail. Junk emails, spam, and trash pile up over time in your Mail app and can take up unnecessary space. But who has time or even remembers to go in and clean out those mailboxes? Instead of doing it manually, you can set the Mail app to routinely remove those unwanted messages for you. When your Mac's startup disk is formatted, return to the Utilities window and select "Install macOS", choose your freshly erased startup drive when asked where to install the OS, and follow the onscreen prompts to complete the installation. Be sure to allow any cloud services you use to complete synchronization before continuing. It's also worth screen-grabbing or noting down any custom preferences, settings, Wi-Fi passwords, and app-specific profiles you use. In CleanMyMac, click on Large & Old Files and click Scan. When it's finished, click on 'Group by' to view files by size, type or when they were last opened.
