µTorrent (or uTorrent) is my favorite and one of the most popular BitTorrent clients available for Mac OS X. It has earned this status because it’s lightweight (~1MB), fast, powerful, feature-rich, and supported and developed by BitTorrent, Inc, which in a way makes it the “official” BitTorrent client.

It’s also compatible with so-called magnet links, that is, links around the web that you can click on to directly open your download client and add to your downloads list, meaning you won’t have to download any files straight to your computer. This in turn reduces the chance of stumbling on malicious software.
Next, you need a copy of uTorrent. After you’ve downloaded the Windows executable, double-click it and CrossOver should start bouncing in the dock with the little symbol displayed on it. After a few seconds uTorrent will load up.
First off, go download CrossOver Beta, it’s available as a free download on the developer’s site. Once you have it installed, you will be able to run quite a few Microsoft programs, as well as other small Windows programs within OS X. uTorrent is one of those other small programs.
There are a ton of other options you can look at by issuing the man transmission-daemon command in the terminal to read the documentation. On top of that, there are other commands that the install of Transmission provide such as transmission-create to create .torrent files, transmission-show to view .torrent properties, and transmission-edit to edit .torrent files.
