As we said, FontBase is completely free to use, and it’s available for Mac, Windows and Linux. It would have been our choice if the program had better viewing options and did not restrict Multiple Views. However, if the lack of viewing options isn’t a problem, free feel to go for FontBase.

The source list can now be expanded to a greater width to aid in viewing long set and folder names or deeply nested folders and sets.
The main window of FEX is much like any other font manager, listing your fonts and font sets in a column on the left, with a preview of fonts on the right. And like other font managers, FEX allows you to create groups of fonts you use frequently, add tags to your fonts for easy searching, get more in-depth info about your fonts, and set up custom type previews of selected fonts. Being a Suitcase Fusion user, I felt right at home in FEX.
Open the FontExplorer X folder inside the LLOrder folder and open the Pro folder inside that.

If you do not have a valid license FontExplorer X Pro will run in a demo mode with a few limitations. You have 30 days to test the functionality and can activate the full version by purchasing a license.
True font geeks can even select two characters and see their positions with kerning turned on and off.
As far as the UI is concerned, FontExplorer X Pro has kept everything old-school. You can have a huge list of all your fonts and double-click on them to launch more info. Of course, there are detailed preview options in the individual view, along with organization options.
then i restarted my computer; when restart was complete, i looked in FontExplorerX Pro and observed that all of my sets were completely gone; the "SETS" item in the left pane has a disclosure triangle to its left, however toggling it does not disclose anything; this is a very big problem for me
