Customer Voices - Find files faster The developer of HoudahSpot has a somewhat lighter version, called Tembo. Tembo isn't quite as powerful as HoudahSpot but also takes more of a guiding role in helping you find your files. For a lot of people it will be just right for improving search on your Mac. This week, they've released Tembo 2.0. The application is on sale for $6.99 (usually $15) until the end of the month and worth picking up. There are versions of Tembo 2 in the Mac App Store and directly from the developer's website. This is one where you are going to want to be sandbox-free so pick it up from the developer directly. Launch Tembo and enter your search term(s), and in a few seconds, the window fills with the results of your search. But unlike Spotlight in Snow Leopard, which gives you a single—and often overwhelming—list of files with only a couple filtering options, Tembo’s results are both more flexible and easier to use. As in Tiger, results are grouped by type: Applications, Documents, Folders (yes, Tembo displays matching folders), messages (e-mail and iChat logs), images, PDFs, Safari bookmarks, movies, music, and so on. Tembo displays the top ten results for each type, and you can choose, in Tembo’s preferences, the order in which these groups appear; you can also disable particular types from appearing in search results. * Customizable alarm sound: radio stations, ringtones, relaxing sounds, songs, recorded sounds, time, weather information and headline news.
